We bring you the widest range of markets on all the most popular sports in New Zealand, and we always offer highly competitive odds too. Plus, we are regulated and deliver safe, secure and fair sports betting straight to you.
Getting started at our mobile sportsbook is as easy as logging on, signing up and choosing your sport. If this is your first time, you may want to know a bit more about the basic betting types available. To make things easier for you, we’ve provided a brief explanation of the most popular bet types.
Fixed Odds bets are the most popular in New Zealand since they provide all the information up front. With these wagers, the odds and potential payout are agreed on at the time of placing your wager. Even if the prices shift later on, you are paid out the agreed amount, if your bet is successful. The odds indicate the likelihood of the selection winning, and the total amount you stand to receive if you win.
Also known as Totals, Over/Under bets are popular with sports like Basketball, Rugby, American Football, Volleyball and Tennis. With this type of wager, we post a total, which is the combined score of both teams at the end of full time. For example, in a Rugby match the total might be 27.5. You can then bet on whether the actual combined score will be under (27 or less) or over (28 or more).
At our sportsbook you will find Handicap betting on all major events. This is offered on team or individual sports where one team is clearly stronger than the other. In cases like these, the result is easy to predict and not worth putting money on. This is where handicapping comes in. Spin Sports will apply a virtual point advantage to the underdog team and deduct a virtual point amount from the favourites. If you are then betting on the favourite, they must win by more than the point margin provided. Similarly, if you are betting on the underdog, they can still lose the match, but if they lose by less than the point margin, your wager is still successful.
Parimutuel, or Pool betting as it is more commonly known is a popular with Horse Racing, Greyhound Racing and some motorsports. This is a completely different type of wagering system where you don’t know what the odds are, or how much you will be paid out when you place your bet. When an event is posted, all of the bets of the same type go into a single pot called a pool. After a small percentage is removed, the remainder of the funds are then split between the winning bets. As such, you only know how much you can potentially win after the betting has closed.
Parlay bets are also referred to as Multi-bets and involve combining two or more selections on a single slip. Instead of placing 3 or 4 individual wagers with lower odds, you can combine then into a Parlay and get a much higher payout. There is a trade-off though. The wager is riskier since every single selection needs to win for the ticket to pay out. So, if you have 5 selections and 5 of them win, you will still lose the wager and your stake.
Futures are wagers where you are putting money down on an event that is weeks, or even months away. These are usually Outright bets on major events, like predicting the winner of the Ashes Test, the men’s singles Wimbledon Champion, the team to win the Super Bowl, the team to win the IPL or the driver to win the Formula One Championships. The further in advance you place your bet, the better the odds and the more you stand to win.
