Borussia Dortmund restarted their Bundesliga campaign with a 4-0 win at home to Schalke, ahead of this weekend’s trip to Wolfsburg. The hosts got off to a winning start themselves, taking the points at Augsburg.
Dortmund have an excellent recent record against Wolfsburg, with eight wins from their last nine meetings.
Wolfsburg midfielder Yannick Gerhardt faces a late fitness test as he recovers from surgery on a broken jaw, but long-term absentees Ignacio Camacho and William are still out.
Dortmund pair Axel Witsel and Emre Can missed their return to action last weekend die to minor injuries, but they should be fit to return against Oliver Glasner’s side.
Wolfsburg vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview and Predictions
Wolfsburg returned with a 2-1 win away at Augsburg last weekend, as Glasner’s side look to keep alive their Europa League qualifying hopes. With the top five essentially confirmed, Glasner’s team look set for a three-way battle with Freiburg and Schalke for sixth spot.
Dortmund laid down a marker for title rivals Bayern Munich with an impressive overpowering of Schalke, with Erling Haaland, Raphael Guerreiro and Thorgan Hazard all on target. They were also the only team to win at home as the Bundesliga gets used to playing without fans present.
Lucien Favre’s side know they need to be faultless in the coming games if they are to challenge the Bavarians for top spot. The confidence of that win should carry over into this weekend, and Dortmund should have enough for a win, priced at 1.74.
The visitors have been in ruthless goalscoring form in 2020, scoring two or more goals in all four of their Bundesliga away games since the turn of the year. With that in mind, a Dortmund win with over 2.5 total goals scored, comes in at 2.30.
Borussia Dortmund to win 2-1 at 9.5
This game should be a tighter clash for Dortmund than their win over Schalke 04, but they simply need to win to keep themselves in title race.
