Portland will be dealing with a major absence in Damian Lillard throughout week eight, as he suffered an abdomen injury against the Utah Jazz on November 29th. There is a chance he could return later in the week, but don’t expect it.

The 28-year-old Norman Powell could also be out in week nine after missing time in week seven. He suffered a quadriceps injury against the Golden State Warriors on November 26th and it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to go in week eight.

Nassir Little will also miss at least the first couple of games in week eight, as he picked up an ankle injury against the Jazz.

Week 8 Portland Trail Blazers Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers are in a battle to get back to the playoffs for the ninth consecutive season and know they cannot afford to take any off nights. They have a difficult week ahead of them, but one that sees them take on three direct Western Conference rivals. They have an opportunity to make a real statement but could also see their playoff aspirations take a real blow if they are not careful.

Fortunately for the Trail Blazers, they will be playing two of their three games in week eight on home court at the Moda Center, where they’ve looked like a completely different team this season. While they have been abysmal on the road, Portland have been nearly unbeatable in front of their home fans and could take advantage of the situation they find themselves in this week.

However, the Trail Blazers do have a daunting task ahead of them when they visit the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night and if Damian Lillard is out of the lineup, they could be in real trouble. It’ll be a telling week for the Trail Blazers and one that’ll be interesting to keep an eye on for both fans and neutrals alike.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Portland Trail Blazers Picks

The Minnesota Timberwolves make the trip to Portland to take on the Trail Blazers on Sunday afternoon. Minnesota have done well on the road this season, but will be in tough against a well-rested Trail Blazers side. Stick with the home team on Sunday at the Moda Center.
