Vicarage Road - Premier League
Bottom club Watford are the only Premier League club without a win this season, and Bournemouth are the latest team trying to ensure it stays that way. The Cherries are in the top half of the table but on a run of four games without a victory in all competitions, while the Hornets secured a solid point on their travels last weekend.
The omens aren’t good for Watford, with the last home win in this fixture coming back in January 2015. The teams have met eight times in the Premier League since then, with six of those matches ending in draws. Bournemouth thrashed the Hornets 4-0 at Vicarage Road last season, while the return was an entertaining 3-3 draw, with all six goals coming in the first half.
Sebastian Prodl could make his return from a hamstring injury this weekend, while Etienne Capoue is also closing in on a return following a lower back problem. Quique Sanchez Flores will be without three of his forwards though, with Troy Deeney, Danny Welbeck and Isaac Success all on the treatment table.
Eddie Howe also has a number of injuries to contend with, although Jefferson Lerma is in with a shot of being available after a hip problem. David Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Dan Gosling and Junior Stanislas have all been ruled out with various injuries.
Watford vs. Bournemouth Preview and Predictions
Neither of these teams are in great form at present, although there are positives for both sides. Watford picked up a surprise point away to Tottenham on Saturday, only denied all three by Dele Alli’s controversial late equaliser. Bournemouth meanwhile have had a much better start than last season, and are on the same number of points as seventh-placed Spurs.
The Cherries haven’t won any of their last three in the Premier League, although their only defeat in that run was a narrow 1-0 loss away to Arsenal. Howe’s side have won two and lost two on the road so far this term, with their last victory coming just over a month ago against south coast rivals Southampton.
Since their 8-0 mauling at the hands of Manchester City, Watford have only lost one of their last four in all competitions. Their only win, however, was against Championship side Swansea City in the League Cup. The Hornets have drawn their last two in the league against Sheffield United and Spurs, giving them something to build on this weekend.
These are difficult times for Watford, but last weekend’s positive result and home advantage here means they’re the favourites for the win on Saturday. They are priced at 2.20, while Bournemouth are available at 3.20. If you think another fixture between these teams will end with honours even, you can back the draw at 3.65.
Score draw at 4.00
Six of the last eight meetings between these two clubs have ended all square, with five of those matches finishing as score draws.
2-2 draw at 12.00
Three of the last four draws between the sides have ended 2-2, while the most recent game was a 3-3 draw, so there’s usually goals in this fixture. An over 3.5 goals bet is priced at 2.55.
