Stuttgart vs. Borussia Dortmund Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
07 April 2021
Saturday 10 April
Signal Iduna Park - Bundesliga
Borussia Dortmund look to bounce back from a shocking spell of form as they travel to a strong Stuttgart side. Edin Terzic’s side have won just one of their last five games and are at risk of failing to qualify for the Champions League.
Stuttgart hammered Dortmund when the sides last met, winning 5-1. Silas Wamangituka bagged a brace, with Philipp Förster, Tanguy Coulibaly and Nicolas Gonzalez all scoring for the away side, and Giovanni Reyna on target for the hosts.
Silas Wamangituka is a big loss for Pellegrino Matarazzo who is already without Nicolás González and Orel Mangala. Tanguy Coulibaly filled in at full-back last weekend and offers a more defensive option whilst Mateo Klimowicz made a suprise start over Gonzalo Castro.
Jadon Sancho remains side-lined for the visitors and is joined by Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marcel Schmelzer on the side-lines. Following an important Champions League fixture midweek, against Manchester City, the manager may look to rotate his side, handing Erling Haaland a much needed rest.
Stuttgart vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview and Predictions
Stuttgart host Borussia Dortmund this weekend in the knowledge that a win would see them go within one point of their opponents in the league table. Spin Sports online football betting has the hosts at 4.00 to win, with the visitors at 1.86. The draw comes in at 3.95.
Matarazzo’s Stuttgart side have been in unprecidented form of late, losing just one match out of their last seven. However, the hosts may be in for a tough run-in for the remainder of the season as a key player in the tactician’s set-up, Silas Wamangituka, looks set to miss out. On Saturday the hosts will be without their second and third top-scorers, needing an own goal last weeked to secure the win.
Against Dortmund this is particularly disadvantagious as the visitors have looked shaky defensively all season. Terzic’s side have relied heavily on being able to out-score their opponents however this has proved a tricky strategy as their last two matches have seen them conceed four times.
To make matters worse for Dortmund, Erling Haaland is enduring the first dry spell in his career, failure to score during the international break and in the defeat to Frankfurt. With Jadon Sancho out injured, it is uncertain whether the visitors will be able to rely on their firepower to get them out of trouble.
Stuttgart go into Saturday’s game in the rare position as the in-form side against Dortmund. However, whether they can hold their nerve without their key-man remains to be seen.
Over 2.5 goals scored at 1.51
This bet would pay out in all of the teams’ last six meetings. Dortmund will continue to attack even as their form deserts them.
Stuttgart to win both halves at 6.5
Dortmund are low on confidence and may start slowly after their midweek fixture. Playing presumptive Premier League champions Manchester City is likely to be a mental and physical drain.
