Sampdoria vs. Juventus, Betting Tips and Previews
18 December 2019
Wednesday 18 December
Stadio Luigi Ferraris - Serie A
Claudio Ranieri may have masterminded Sampdoria’s escape from the relegation zone, but faces a tough task with Juventus travelling to Lombardy. Juve have the bit between their teeth after closing the gap on Inter.
Sampdoria pulled off a shock win when the sides last met, with Gianluca Caprari and Gregoire Defrel scoring in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Ranieri may be tempted to field a more defensive line- up to the one that faced Genoa last weekend, whilst Manolo Gabbiadini will hope to start having scored the winner in the derby.
Maurizio Sarri experimented with an attacking trio of Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain in Juventus’ last game, but may look to rotate Douglas Costa and Aaron Ramsey in on Wednesday.
Sampdoria vs. Juventus Predictions, Preview and Predictions
Sampdoria may have improved their form recently, but will need a Christmas miracle to beat Juventus for a second consecutive game. It’s 6.10 for them to get one.
The Bianconeri come into Wednesday’s game on hot form, tied with Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A table. With Champions League qualification now secured, Maurizio Sarri will be able to return his focus to the league, and continue his attempts to introduce Sarri-ball to Juventus.
The former Napoli manager has struggled with balancing his starting XIs in his first few months, with three attacking stars in Dybala, Ronaldo and Higuain often leaving the side light in midfield and defense. However, with little creative quality elsewhere Juventus have looked unimaginative at times this season. They’re 1.54 here though, with the draw at 4.45.
Sampdoria will hope that the reigning champions have one of their worse days, and will look to drop deep and frustrate Juventus on Wednesday. The hosts may be a way off last season’s form, but with a front two of Fabio Quagliarella and Gaston Ramirez, they have two players that are able to create something from nothing - which is exactly the service they are likely to get in this fixture.
Any result would be good for Ranieri at this point in the season, and with a tough run of fixtures coming up, Sampdoria will have to focus to avoid losing this tie before it begins.
Both teams to score at 2.05
Juventus have been sloppy at the back this season, but should still be capable of outscoring their opponents.
Ronaldo to score anytime at 1.83
The Portugese superstar has been free-scoring in his last few-games, looking to bounce-back following a slow start to the campaign.
