Real Valladolid vs. Sevilla, Betting Tips and Previews
The hectic program before Christmas starts with a tough trip to Valladolid for high-flying Sevilla. The international break is over and Sevilla returns to La Liga looking to build on their great form so far this season.
The last match between the two sides was also at the Jose Zorrilla when Sevilla won 2-0 on April 7, 2019. They extended their run of five matches unbeaten against Real Valladolig, who have to dig their way back to December 3, 2012 in the archive to find their last win over the team from Andalucia. The last three matches have all ended in Sevilla wins, but both games played in the caledar year 2013, ended with a draw.
They will of course be missing Joaquin Fernandez, who is still out when fourth placed Sevilla come to town on Sunday, but there is no bad news for Sergio before this weekend’s fixture and he will be able to prepare for the top team without too many concerns.
Daniel Carrico has been back in training for Sevilla this week, after an injury scare. But he looks like he has overcome the akle problem he sustained against Levante and coach Julen Lopetegui might have him available for the match against Valladolid on Sunday. It’s unsure if Lucas Ocampos will be fit and Bryan Gil could be out with tonsilitis.
Real Valladolid vs. Sevilla Preview and Predictions
In Valladolid on Sunday night, Sevilla are looking to build on some impressive performances of late. The team from Andalucia is unbeaten in seven matches and will be favourites to pick up another three points at 2.00 when they are facing a side placed 13th in La Liga. But the home side haven’t lost since Valencia came to visit in May and are on a run of five matches unbeaten at home. You can back them at 3.90 to continue to build on their last win against Mallorca or the match to end in a draw at 3.60.
The opposition this week contains a lot of quality though and have gone from international break to international break without losing. Now they are looking to build on their form against the inconsistent Valladolid. They are fourth in La Liga on 24 points in 13 games, just one behind leaders Barcelona and Real Madrid.
But it will be important to have Lucas Ocampos back on the pitch as soon as possible, as he came back a bit early from his international duty, but should be fine to play on Sunday. The Argentinian has scored five times in 12 games and is their league leading goal scorer so far. The 25-year-old midfielder has stepped up when Nolito, Javier Hernandez and Luuk De Jong havent, and the three forwards have a combined result matching the one of the Marseille player.
This game represents the start of a hectic period for both teams, but Sevilla will also have to participate in the Europa League, making sure they have eight games to play before the winter break and they need to get the engine running early. It won’t be easy away to Valladolid though, where others have found the going very tough lately.
Eibar, Atletico Madrid, Granada and Ousasuna are joining Mallorca on the list of teams who haven’t managed to beat Valladolid at their own turf this season. It remains to be seen if Sevilla will be the first.
Sevilla to win to nil at 3.05
It promises to be a tight game at the Jose Zorrilla and three out of the last four Valladolid games have ended with both teams not to score and to up the ante it’s looking nice to go for Sevilla to keep enjoying their time under Lopetegui’s charge. Also for the away side, five of the nine last matches have ended without both teams scoring, even if they haven’t kept a clean sheet in the last four games.
Half Time/ Full Time – X/2 at 4.65
With a few of the key players tired from long travels to take part in international duties, it may take a while before they get back into gear for both teams. The away side looks a lot better, both on the paper and statistically, but they might have to work hard to get the three points and maybe a late winner will seal the deal on Jose Zorrilla.
