Real Madrid vs. Eibar Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

12 March 2020

Friday 13 March

Santiago Bernabeu – La Liga

Real Madrid are currently struggling to string a run of wins in La Liga and will have to bounce back against Eibar to keep up with league leaders Barcelona. Eibar are in a similar situation, but at the other end of the table and should be exactly what Los Blancos need right now.

Past Meetings

Eibar have only defeated Real Madrid once in their 11 meetings so far, but it’s only three meetings since the convincing 3-0 win in La Liga. And with only one other draw to take confidence from, the Merengues only need to look back to the reverse fixture this term to gain theirs. A 4-0 win away, thanks to a brace by Karim Benzema and a goal further goals by Sergio Ramos and Federico Valverde secured the three points at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua.

Team News

Zinedine Zidane should have both Nacho Fernandez and Daniel Carvajal back in contention for the weekend, from their respective flues. Isco has struggled with lumbago and is on his way back this week and could get a run out against 16th placed Eibar. Eden Hazard will have to wait until the end of the month, whilst Marco Asensio is also closing in on a return from his ACL rupture, but the match against Eibar comes too soon.

Eibar coach Jose Mendilibar is still waiting on centre-back Ivan Ramis, who has been out since December with a knee injury and this weekend Paulo Oliveira will be out with a yellow card suspension. Other than that, he will have no other injury concerns ahead of the match against the giants from the capital.

Real Madrid vs. Eibar Preview and Predictions

Real Madrid are currently in the middle of a run of five games where their only win came against title rivals Barcelona, helping them to leapfrog their archrivals in the table. But a setback against Real Betis only a week later made sure the Blaugrana brought back the status quo in La Liga. The poor run of results of late has meant that Zidane’s men didn’t make the most of a great opportunity to create a gap between them and a struggling Barca.

The inconsistency will have to stop if they are to win back the title in Spain and they may be backed at 1.23 to start with a win against 16th placed Eibar. The away side arrive in the capital after a similar run of results but haven’t won away from home since they met Cacereno in the Copa del Rey in January. Their last away win in La Liga came in November last year, when they beat Leaganes 2-1. Since then they have picked up two points in six attempts on the road and a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu may be backed at 6.45.

Mendilibar’s men are currently two points above relegation and in need of points to help secure a new contract in the top tier of Spanish football and a trip to play Real Madrid wouldn’t be top of the wish list right now. A win away to Real may be backed at 12.75 and would be a big upset for the title chasers in Madrid.

Struggling to score, with midfielder Fabian Orellana as their leading goalscorer on seven goals this term, they may struggle to break down their opponent’s defence at the almighty home of Los Blancos. Karim Benzema has carried the home side this term and his 14 goals in 26 makes him the leading goalscorer at the Bernabeu.

Recommended Bets

Both teams to score at 2.05

Real have only kept one clean sheet – against Barcelona – in their last seven games and Eibar will be fighting for their lives at the Bernabeu this weekend. Even if they most likely will travel home empty handed, they might get a goal..

Total amount of goals Over 3.5 at 2.25

A big score would set the home side up nicely before a midweek match against Manchester City, fighting for a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The value of the Over 3.5 is tempting, seeing as the away side arrive after a 5-0 beating against Barcelona at Camp Nou in their last away game.
