Napoli vs. Inter Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Serie A gets back underway on Monday, as league leaders Inter travel south to face an out-of-sorts Napoli side. Gennaro Gattuso will at least guarantee passion against the visitors, his former Milan rivals.

Past Meetings

Napoli hammered Inter when the sides last met at the San Paolo, with a brace from Fabian Ruiz and goals from Dries Mertens and Piotr Zielinski heavily outweighed Mauro Icardi’s penalty.

Team News

It is bad news for Gennaro Gattuso as star players Kalidou Koulibaly and Dries Mertens are both set to miss out through injury. Nicola Maksimovic is also likely to be sidelined, whilst Fabian Ruiz has been struggling with illness this week.

Danilo D’Ambrosio is the only new absentee for Inter, with Alexis Sanchez a long-term injury. The coach may be able to welcome back Nicolo Barrella, who has been out since November, and will slot back into central midfield.

Napoli vs. Inter Predictions, Preview and Predictions

Napoli have won just one of their last six league matches, and face Serie A’s in-form team as they welcome Inter on Monday. The home side are 2.60 to get back on track here.

Antonio Conte’s side look to do what Napoli failed to, carrying on their form as winter champions to beat Juventus to the Scudetto. However, with the season just half gone, they face plenty further challenges, with a trip to the San Paolo one of the toughest. They’re 2.80 to get the three points, and it’s 3.60 for the teams to take a point each.

This new-look Inter side, without former captain Mauro Icardi, but with a new deadly strike duo, not to metioned a heavily reinforced midfield has impressed this season, combining defensive stability with real attacking threat. Furthermore, without Champions League football, the Nerazzuri will be able to focus on their league form, starting with Monday’s game against Napoli.

Gattuso will have used the winter break to learn more about his new squad, which appears to have capitulated after three seasons at the top. A recent player revolt against the owner saw the end of Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure, with rumours of a fire sale of senior players come the end of the season.

Regardless, Napoli sit in eight place in the league, and with Champions League money on the line, the squad needs to improve quickly. The game against Inter provides the perfect oppotunity to get fans back onside, whilst restoring positivity around the San Paolo.

However, without a number of key players, and others lacking in form, Monday may be more about avoiding embaressment to a very strong Inter side.

Recommended Bets

Both teams to score at 0.6

Napoli’s home advantage should encourage them, whilst Inter’s front line look unstoppable at the moment.

The match to end a draw at 2.5

Both sides would be happy with a point, and both managers may avoid taking risks after several weeks off.
