San Siro – Serie A
Milan host Inter in Serie A on Sunday for the third and final Derby della Madoninna of the season. It’s a top of the table clash as the teams fight for the Scudetto and Spin Sports will continue to have all the latest for football betting online.
A firey Coppa Italia clash saw a last-minute Christian Eriksen free-kick win the game for Inter, after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku had both scored.
Ibra and Lukaku had a physical confrontation during the match, when it was alleged the Swede made unsavoury remarks to his former Manchester United teammate.
Davide Calabria will return at right-back having served his suspension in what is expected to be the only change to Stefano Pioli’s side from Saturday’s defeat to Spezia. Sandro Tonali and Brahim Diaz are both strugggling for fitness whilst a mid-week Europa League fixture will limit the manager’s ability to rotate.
Antonio Conte will likely field the same XI that impressed against Lazio last weekend, with Arturo Vidal struggling to recover from a knee injury. Inter have no further injuries and the coach will have to decide whether to start the impressive, but offensively-minded, Ivan Perisic on the left flank, or opt for a more defensive option.
Milan vs. Inter Preview and Predictions
Inter travel to face Milan this weekend, having leapfrogged their rivals in the pole position in Serie A on Sunday. The visitors go into the fixture as the in-form side and are 2.10 to win against Stefano Pioli’s side, with a draw at 3.65.
The Rossoneri’s suprise defeat to Spezia on Saturday opened up a rare opportunity for Inter to take the advantage, which they did with comprehensive win over Lazio. Antonio Conte’s side will be full of confidence following the result and will benefit from having no mid-week fixture to contend with, as well as a relatively short injury list.
Milan have to travel to Serbia the first leg of the Europa League knock-outs on Thursday but may appreciate to the opporunity to return to winning ways before the derby. Stefano Pioli has had a number of key players return to the starting XI but this appears to have disrupted momentum rather than improved the squad depth.
The likes of Ismail Bennacer and Simon Kjaer played a significant role in the Rossoneri’s strong start to the season, and if they are able to return to the top of their game by Sunday, will be a significant boost to the side. However, in their absence the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali have impressed and both will be keen to fixture if possible.
Milan are 3.50 to reclaim their position at the top of Serie A on Sunday, with defeat putting their title dreams into doubt.
A draw at full-time at 3.65
One point apiece would do the trick for Conte, who has built his reputation on defenisve performances. It would keep Inter slightly ahead in the title race as the final months of the season come into view.
Under 2.5 goals scored at 2.10
Inter have conceded just once in their last three games and may sit deep and defend on Sunday. With Lukaku leading the line, they always have a direct and dangerous option on the break too.
