Milan vs. Hellas Verona Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Milan are starting to gel and haven’t lost in Serie A since the turn of the year, but Hellas Verona will be confident they can stop their winning run. Stefano Pioli’s men have started swinging and continue their climb towards Europe, whilst Hellas Verona are in a similar run and could be a direct rival to the Rossoneri this campaign.

Past Meetings

In the reverse fixture this season, Krzysztof Piatek scored the winner from the penalty spot at the Bentegodi, whilst the last fixture between the two sides at San Siro ended in a 4-1 win for the Rossoneri. But the two sides have been struggling away against each other, as Milan have won two home games in a row, but before their 1-0 win at the Bentegodi this season, the Gialloblu beat the Diavolo in two consecutive home games. In their last four meetings at the Giuseppe Meazza, Milan have a record of 2-2-0.

Team News

Stefano Pioli still has to cope without Davide Calabria, who suffered a distorted ankle two weeks ago and he will miss his fourth game for the Rossoneri, whilst Lucas Biglia and Leo Duarte are also out. Otherwise, the squad seems fit and the coach has a broad spectre to play on against Verona.

Wesley is fighting against illness but could be back when Ivan Juric takes his team to Milan, as left-back Luigi Vitale has also missed the last two games through a back injury. Andrea Danzi could recover from a bruised ankle, but it’s touch and go for the defensive midfielder. Eddie Salcedo is expected back in training, but the game at San Siro could come too soon for the centre-forward.

Milan vs. Hellas Verona Preview and Predictions

Milan are still unbeaten in Serie A this year and have started climbing the table in 2020, after ending last year in an abysmal 5-0 defeat to Atalanta. Since then, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has entered the San Siro for his second spell at the club and has been a key member to lift the belief and make the performances better for the Italian giants. They may be backed at 1.58 to win also this weekend, as the squad’s overall performance has been lifted by the arrival of the Swedish superstar.

But Verona have proven they aren’t around to make up the numbers and are currently on a great run themselves. Fabio Borini will also get his chance to prove his worth against his old club, as he returns to San Siro for the first time after moving to Verona this winter.

Verona arrive at San Siro with three wins and two draws in their last five league games and will be hoping to continue their charge against a finish in the top half of the table this season, and could be backed at 3.70 to hold Milan for a draw and 6.15 to win the game.

They are still struggling for goals, despite their position at ninth in Serie A and their five attackers have a combined total of 10 goals this term, including Borini’s goal from his debut. Milan are expecting to limit the Gialloblu also this weekend, as they have only conceded two goals in their last four league games, with three clean sheets in the process. They also kept a clean sheet against SPAL in the Coppa Italia and have really cleaned up their act at the back.

Currently at eight in Serie A, Milan are now only behind Cagliari at sixth on goal difference and have really sparked the hopes of qualifying for Europe next term. Another win would be of further help for Stefano Pioli and they are favourites to beat Verona.

Recommended Bets

Milan to win to nil at 2.60

Gianluigi Donnarumma has shut down shop and kept three clean sheets in four league games of late, as Milan are mopping up at the back. Another home game against Verona and expectedly a low amount of goals, but Milan could do like they did at Brescia and get a narrow win against a fairly confident opponent.

Milan to keep a clean sheet at 2.15

The Diavolo won’t fear the attack of Verona, but the away side have been able to get the points on the table this term and are far away from the relegation battle as things stand. The impressive results for Ivan Juric’s team has surprised everyone this term, but Milan should be able to cope with a toothless attack, who have only scored 25 times in 20 games.
