Sunday 21 February
Old Trafford – Premier League
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be confident of getting his side back on track in the Premier League as they host Newcastle this weekend. The Red Devils title hopes have suffered a blow in recent weeks, but they are still in the top four race. Spin Sports will follow the action all the way with football betting online.
Clashes between these two sides created some real drama in the early days of the Premier League, but Manchester United have dominated in recent seasons with an unbeaten run of five home games against the Magpies.
The Manchester side are coming off consecutive 4-1 wins over their Tyneside opponents, at St. James’ Park in October 2020 and Old Trafford in December 2019.
Solskjaer’s only injury concern ahead of this tie is the absence of Paul Pogba with Mason Greenwood and Donny van de Beek pushing for a starting return.
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is without star man Callum Wilson for the trip to Old Trafford but midfielder Jeff Hendrick is back after a ban.
Manchester United vs. Newcastle United Preview and Predictions
Solskjaer’s hosts head into this clash on the back of a disappointing run of just one win in their last five Premier League matches, albeit a 9-0 thrashing of Southampton. That has seen their fading chances of a title challenge slip even further back as rivals Manchester City have powered at the top of the table.
However, Bruce’s visitors are in slightly better form, with two wins in their last five league matches, but key injuries are beginning to impact his squad once again this season. The Magpies will be confident of avoiding a potential relegation dogfight in the months ahead, but they will need to pick up some vital points to prevent any possible slip.
Despite Newcastle edging their hosts in terms of current form, Solskjaer knows he needs his team to rediscover their confidence ahead of a crucial run of games, and a home win comes in priced at 1.28. The draw is priced at 6.00, while Newcastle are out to 10.00 for the points.
Bruno Fernandes is United’s top scorer Premier League scorer so far in 2020-21, with 14 goals, but Anthony Martial is definitely worth keeping an eye on as he has four goals in his last three home starts against Newcastle.
Manchester United to win 1-0 at 7.50
Solskjaer and United just need a win in this game and given their recent struggles a narrow three points will suffice for the home side. It might not be a thriller here.
Both teams not to score at 1.74
Newcastle have struggled for points and goals on the road in 2021, with just two goals in their last five games away from St. James’ Park. Steve Bruce’s defensive approach doesn’t guarantee a solid side.
