Manchester City welcome Burnley to the Etihad on Saturday afternoon, in a fixture which has been very favourable to the Blues in recent years. The Clarets finally got themselves into the win column last time out though, and that should prove a much-needed confidence boost for Sean Dyche’s side ahead of a daunting fixture for the away team.

Past Meetings

City are unbeaten in their last 11 games against Burnley, with eight of those matches coming in the Premier League. The Citizens have won each of the last six, scoring 23 goals in the process and conceding only once. That was in a 4-1 victory at Turf Moor, with Burnley’s last win in this fixture coming on home soil back in March 2015.

Team News

The hosts will hope Sergio Aguero is fit to play, after City’s record goalscorer remained on the bench for their defeat against Tottenham at the weekend. Fernandinho is expected to miss this game following injury and illness, while defenders Nathan Ake and Benjamin Mendy are both set to miss out.

Dale Stephens is currently rated as 50-50 for Burnley, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Robbie Brady has a similar problem and is likely to sit this one out, along with Jack Cork who has at least returned to the training pitches following an ankle injury.

Manchester City vs. Burnley Preview and Predictions

Manchester City have been utterly dominant against Burnley in recent years, scoring 34 goals and conceding just five in winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the clubs. Three of City’s six most recent victories over the Clarets have finished 5-0 to the Blues, who are in desperate need of another convincing win here.

City lost their second Premier League fixture of the season last time out against Tottenham, with Pep Guardiola’s preparations for this game hindered by Wednesday’s trip to Greece to play Olympiakos in the Champions League. The Citizens have only won three of their opening eight league games so far, and start this match down in 13th place in the table.

The Blues were picked apart by Spurs numerous times on the counter-attack in their 2-0 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s side on Saturday, and they are quite simply not the same team without Aguero and Fernandinho fit and in form. Even so, City have an outstanding record against Burnley, and are the 1.18 favourites to extend their excellent run by winning this weekend.

The Clarets are out at 14.00, as they look to build on their first Premier League victory of the season on Monday night. The 1-0 win against Crystal Palace will do wonders for the mood in the Burnley camp, and was also enough to lift them out of the relegation zone ahead of this game. Only three teams separate City and Burnley in the Premier League table at present, with a draw here priced at 8.25.

Recommended Bets

Man City to win to nil at 1.60

The Blues have kept five clean sheets in winning each of their last six matches against Burnley, so this bet looks a great way to enhance your odds on the home win.

Man City to win 5-0 at 16.00

City are a wounded animal right now, which could make them very dangerous this weekend. The Blues have won three of their last six games against the Clarets 5-0, so this is a scoreline which is well worth considering here.
