Liverpool vs. Sheffield United Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Liverpool look unstoppable having overcome a hectic winter period, but host an in-form Sheffield United on Wednesday. The Blades have sprung a number of surprises this season, but this seems beyond them.

Past Meetings

Liverpool won by just one goal when the sides last met, back in Septmber, with Georginio Wijnaldum scoring the only goal in the 70th minute.

Team News

Jurgen Klopp has been rotating his squad regalarly to cope with a fixture conjestion over the Christmas period. Divok Origi may benefit from changes, coming in for either Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamerlain should have recovered from a minor knock to feature.

Chris Wilder isn’t one for wholesale changes, and is likely to field a similar side to the one that played Manchester City. Lys Mousset may get some game-time up front, with Oli McBurnie certain to start, adding a physical presence up front and pressing from the front.

Liverpool vs. Sheffield United Predictions, Preview and Predictions

The Blades have had a fantastic December, going four games unbeaten, but have a tough task, facing Manchester City and Liverpool within the space of three days. Playing the champion- elect is a difficult task at the best of times, but with player fatigue coming into the equalsion, the visitors here will need to be flawless to take any points. They’re a massive 16.00 for the victory, and even the draw is 7.00

Wilder’s side has recieved plenty of compliments for how they have played since their return to the Premier League this season, facing every side face-on and looking to play the ball out from the back. Sheffield United’s now legedary overlapping centre-backs could well prove the undoing of Jugen Klopp’s gengenpressing, allowing the visitors to bypass the mercurial Roberto Firmino.

However, as seen in Liverpool’s recent fixtures, it takes more than limiting one of Klopp’s players to stop the Reds from dominating. Trent Alexaner-Arnold has been in for particular praise with his performance at Leiceseter, but Sadio Mane has been putting in world-class performances all season, whilst Oxlade-Chamberlain has been impressing when fit. They’re three reasons why Liverpool are as short as 1.19.

United will have to defend as an entire unit if they are to take any points away from Anfield, something that they have proven in the past they are more than willing to do.

Recommended Bets

Mohamed Salah to score anytime at 3.3

Salah has been one notch off his best so far this season, but his speed and agaility may cause problems for the Blades’ back line.

Liverpool to win to nil at 1.8

The Reds may be in for a tough game, but should still manage to keep Sheffield United at bay on Wednesday.
