Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be aiming to secure their place in the Champions League quarter finals as they face RB Leipzig in midweek. The Reds are currently 2-0 up on aggregate over the Bundesliga side, and favoured in the online football betting to make a safe passage to the last eight.

Past Meetings

Liverpool won the first leg 2-0 in Budapest in their first ever meeting with Julian Nagelsmann’s side. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored within five minutes of each other in the second half to give the Premier League champion’s a comfortable win – and a cushion of two away goals for the return

Team News

Klopp is still battling against a host of first team injury problems with four key stars all set to miss out but Diogo Jota could return to the starting XI.

Nagelsmann is likely to be without defender Willi Orban for the trip to Anfield, with Amadou Haidara in line to step in, but Dani Olmo and Justin Kluivert are fit to start.

Liverpool vs. RB Leipzig Preview and Predictions

Liverpool’s form continues to be inconsistent ahead of this tie, with just two wins in their last four games in all competitions heading into this clash. They’ve been particularly poor at home, without a win in seven and losing their last five in the league. This is technically a home game, but will be played in Budapest due to coronavirus protocols. Klopp will be confident their first leg advantage will be enough to see them progress but a confidence boosting win would help his side’s chances in the end of season run-in.

Leipzig have a tough task on their hands trying to turn around a two-goal deficit in this one and they lost twice away from home in the group stages against Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. Nagelsmann’s side are still in with a fighting chance of dragging Bayern Munich back in the domestic title race and that could potentially impact his selection in this one.

Despite a strong first leg lead, Liverpool know they cannot take their foot off the gas against an impressive RB Leipzig, but the hosts should have enough to win, with a Liverpool victory on the night priced at 2.20. The draw after 90 minutes is 3.25, while to progress, RB Leipzig are out to 7.75 and Liverpool in to 1.06.

Mo Salah netted in the first leg win over Nagelsmann’s team and the Egyptian star already has four Champions League goals to his name in 2020-21. After he was substituted – and visibly unhappy about it – in the defeat to Chelsea, the Egypt international has some making up to do. A goal here would be a start.

Liverpool to win 2-1 at 9.25

Leipzig will give Liverpool a test and based on the Reds recent defensive record they will be confident of at least getting themselves on the scoresheet.

Both teams to score at 1.60

Liverpool have been a little flat in front of goal recently – they were particularly toothless against Chelsea – but Jurgen Klopp will push his team to get firing again. RB Leipzig, meanwhile, have found the back of the net in 12 of their 13 outings in 2021, with Liverpool they only team to shut them out this year.
