Leicester vs. Liverpool Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

The Premier League’s top two face off on Boxing Day, with hosts Leicester welcoming Liverpool to the King Power Stadium. The Reds will back themselves against any opposition but a home win would leave the title race open again.

Past Meetings

Liverpool have had the edge in this fixture of late, with the Red winning by two goals to one when the sides last met, in Ocotober. It was no easy win however, and required a 94th minute penalty after James Maddison equalised Sadio Mane’s opener.

Team News

Brendon Rodgers has few injuries to contend with, and will likely field a similar side to that which started against Manchester City in their last game. Ayoze Perez may be considered on the right flank, although Marc Albrighton would be a more defensive option.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to field his strongest possible XI, despite returning only four days prior from the International Champions Cup. The German benefits from having the majority of his squad available, and will certainly field his goal-scoring trio of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Robero Firmino.

Leicester vs. Liverpool Predictions, Preview and Predictions

Leicester face Liverpool on Boxing Day, in a clash that can reasonably described as a title decider, despite being so early in the season. 10 points seperate the Red in first, and the Foxes, and anything other than a win for the hosts would see the league leaders establish an overwhelming gap, with no furthe games between the sides.

This will, of course be of little concern to Klopp’s side, who even if they lose, will have a healthy seven point lead ahead of the pack. Furthermore, the manager will point to the club’s participation in the Club World Cup, which has disrupted preparations, and potentially caused fatigue, despite the majority of Liverpool’s stars not featuring.  They’re 2.15 to fight through it and win here.

For Leicester however, Thursday’s game will be viewed as an opportunity to get back in the title race, with three points especially vital following a recent draw with Norwich. The Foxes are playing an exciting, attractive and attacking brand of football, much like their title rivals, although have their own reason for slight jadenesss, having faced last year’s champions, Manchester City, the match before they play the champions elect. They’re 3.20 for the win, with the draw at 3.75.

Brendon Rodgers will know that his side are in with a chance, and that if he can get Jamie Vardy playing at his best, even the mercurial Virgil Van Dijk will have his hands full. However, with the Reds attacking trio firing on all cylinders, the visitors will pose more than enough of a threat themselves.

Recommended Bets

Sadio Mane to score anytime at  2.8

The winger is in the form of his life, and will find a fair bit of space vacated behind James Maddison on Thursday.

Over 2.5 goals at 1.68

Rodgers’ side need to win to prove their title credentials, which may seem them exposed defensively.
