Lazio vs. Inter Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
12 February 2020
Sunday 16 February
Stadio Olimpico – Serie A
It’s a battle between first and third as leaders Inter face a Lazio side that are riding high in the form table. Inter’s stirring second half comeback against Milan put them top at the expense of champions Juventus.
Inter have dominated this feature in recent years, scoring three at the Olimpico in both of their last two visits. The most recent meeting between the sides, earlier this season, was far less exciting however, as the Nerazzuri won by a solitary goal, scored early in the first half by Danilo D’ambrosio.
Simone Inzaghi will be able to recall Stefan Radu and Sergej Milkovic-Savic after both return from suspension on Sunday. Joaquin Correa featured as a substitute in Lazio’s win over Parma, and the forward may be fit to start in the place of Felipe Caicedo against Inter.
Antonio Conte is unlikely to make many changes to his tried and tested XI, although will be able to welcome back Lautaro Martinez who returns following an extended suspicion. Goalkeeper and club captain Samir Handanovic should also be fit to start, whilst Stefano Sensi has been replaced by Matias Vecino following a spell of poor form.
Lazio vs. Inter Predictions, Preview and Predictions
Inter sit top of the Serie A table going into the weekend’s fixtures, level on points with Juventus. By the time they place Lazio on Sunday however, they will know if they have fallen behind the Bianconeri, or have a chance to pull three points ahead.
In order to do so, Antonio Conte will have to mastermind a win against a side that has gone 18 games undefeated, a club record. Lazio are in the form rarely seen by the Aquile this millennium, and have not just a strong starting XI, but a solid squad in general. They’re 2.35 to win, with Inter at 2.90 and 3.60 for the draw.
Spearheaded by the mercurial Ciro Immobile, who has all but locked in the capocannoniere title with 25 goals scored in the league, Lazio have a side capable of free-flowing football, but also gritty hard-fought victories, as seen against Parma. This will be very much appreciated by Conte, who has a similar ethic, with victories earned by hard-work and solid structure.
The two sides have both conceded just 20 goals this season, and, for all their attacking abilities, Sunday’s game could well be fought between defences. As Inter have an important mid-week Coppa Italia fixture against Napoli, and are playing away from home, the impetus may be on Lazio to go out and get the win. Whose strengths this plays towards remains to be seen.
The match to end as a draw at 3.60
The sides are evenly matched, and Antonio Conte is not one to go for the attack away from home, whilst Lazio would likely settle with a point.
Under 2.5 goals scored at 2.05
The last two games between these two sides have ended 1-0 and this may be fated to finish the same.
