Newly-crowned Serie A champions Juventus wrap up the 2019-20 season with a home game against Roma. It was touch-and-go at one point as the Old Lady were challenged by Inter, Lazio and, latterly, Atalanta, but a ninth consecutive Scudetto was confirmed with a week to play.

Past Meetings

Juventus have beaten Roma in both Serie A and Coppa Italia action this season, with Maurizio Sarri’s side losing just one of their last six games against the side from the capital.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Rodrigo Bentancur and Leonardo Bonucci scored the last time the teams met, in the cup, with Gianluigi Buffon’s own goal a consolation for Roma.

A Ronaldo penalty added to Merih Demiral’s opening goal to give Juve a 2-1 win in the last league meeting, Diego Perotti scoring from the spot for Roma.

Team News

Sarri has no fresh injuries to deal with ahead of this game, with long term absentees Douglas Costa, Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira and Mattia De Sciglio and all still sidelined.

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca will be without Cengiz Under, Juan Jesus, Antonio Mirante, Davide Santon and Roger Ibanez all out, alongside Lorenzo Pellegrini, suffered a broken nose last time out.

Juventus vs. Roma Preview and Predictions

Juventus have secured their ninth successive Serie A title in recent weeks, with Lazio and Inter Milan both falling away in their own title challenges. However, Sarri’s side have not been particularly consistent following their return to action, with defeat in the Coppa Italia final, and two wins from their last six league games. They are 2.90 to win here, with Roma at 2.10 and the draw available at 4.30.

Roma have already secured their spot in next season’s Europa League, with Fonseca’s side unable to catch fourth place Lazio. Fonseca’s side are in much better form heading into this clash, with an unbeaten run of five wins and a draw in their last six games.

Despite neither side having anything to play for in this game, this should be an exciting game, and based on form they could cancel each other out. The two sides have plenty of goals in their ranks, with Roma scoring 18 goals in their last six games, and Juventus netting 12.

Ronaldo is set for personal battle with Lazio star Ciro Immobile in the race to finish the season as Serie A’s top scorer. Italian international Immobile has 34 goals, compared to Ronaldo’s 31, with the Portuguese striker breaking the 30 goal mark for the first time in Italian football. That may be the most intriguing battle to follow on the final weekend.

Recommended Bets

A 1-1 draw at 8.00

Juventus have been able to drop points and still retain their title, and despite their strong end of season run, Roma have already missed out on the chance to sneak into the 2020-21 Champions League.

Both teams to score at 1.50

Between them Roma and Juve have scored the best part of 30 goals in half a dozen games. While sometimes that kind of stat points to a disappointing goal-free encounter, with nothing left to play for there is no reason for either side to be cagey.
