Inter vs. Roma Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Friday 6 December
San Siro – Serie A
Inter are back at the top in Serie A, but this weekend a Roma side on a great run come to San Siro to give their all to turn the trend. Antonio Conte vs. Paulo Fonseca will see two of the top coaches in the League clash and it’s expected to be exciting match between two highly confident teams.
The two giants haven’t been able to decide a winner in their last three meetings, all ending in score draws. Last season the game at San Siro ended in a 1-1 draw, when two former players scored the goals. Ivan Perisic equalised Stephan El Shaarawy’s early opener when the two teams respectively ended fourth and sixth in the League. At the Olimpico, a Aleksandar Kolarov penalty equalised Mauro Icardi’s 2-1 goal, when the match ended 2-2. The last time Roma won against Inter at San Siro was back in February 2017, when a 3-1 win followed up a 2-1 win at the Olimpico in October the previous year. Inter have only won once in their seven last meetings with the Giallorossi – a 3-1 win in Rome on August 26, 2017.
Inter are struggling with their options in the middle of the park and not Roberto Gagliardini might be unfit to play against the Giallorossi. The headache continues for Antonio Conte, as the manager is looking for a new midfielder on the transfer market, maybe regretting having let Radja Nainggolan leave for Cagliari in the summer. Kwadwo Asamoah is out with a knee injury, the same goes for the youngster Nicolo Barella, whilst Stefano Sensi might be back soon, after missing the last three matches through a tear in the adductor muscle.
Roma are also sweating on Justin Kluiverts condition after the winger sustained a thigh problem last weekend. Javier Pastore has been out with a bruised hip and has missed the last three games, whilst Bryan Cristante and Davide Zappacosta are out with long-term injuries.
Inter vs. Roma Preview and Predictions
Inter are flying high in the Serie A, when Lautaro Martinez seems like he can’t stop scoring for the hosts. Inter have won their five last league games, with their only hiccup in eight games coming away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. That game has left them in an awkward position in the group stage, though and Inter might have one eye on the game next Tuesday against Barcelona in the decisive Champions League match.
But Inter are keen on stopping Juventus from winning the Italian league yet another year and may be backed at 1.95 to win the match against the Giallorossi this weekend. Even if their record against Roma hasn’t been all that, they are a completely different team under Conte this season. He has managed to lift their performances to another level and nothing seems to stop them, not even a long injury list. The depht may be the biggest concern at the Nerazzurri, who are 3.85 to be held to another draw by Roma.
The away side are coming to the game after two convincing wins in Serie A, and if you include the impressive 3-0 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa League last week, Roma have scored nine times in their last three games. They can be backed at 3.90 to secure another win this Friday.
Before the 2-0 defeat to Parma in the League, Roma had a run of unbeaten games on the road that could be stretched back to March and a 2-1 defeat to SPAL last season. They have hit back since the loss to Parma before the interational break and beat Hellas Verona 3-1 on December 1.
Edin Dzeko has been struggling for goals lately, but looks like he is back performing after a goal against Brescia and another against Basaksehir in late November. After the turn of the month, he didn’t score against Hellas Verona, but will always be a threat when he plays. Inter will have to be careful, as he has scored six times in 14 games so far.
It will be a duel of forwards, as Inter duo Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have created a great partnership up front this campaign. They have scored 18 times between them in 14 Serie A games and will be looking to add even more when Roma come to visit on Friday. It will definitely be an interesting game to follow and the one to watch may be Nicolo Zaniolo, who’s been taking some big steps already this season – scoring three times already in his playmaker role.
Draw with goals at 3.20
Both sides are on form and will be looking to get at their opponent. Three points are vital in the fight at the top of Serie A and Roma will need to put down a performance to get something from San Siro. They will go for the win, but maybe Inter will be able to get through the absence of a lot of key members on the midfield by scoring themselves. It’s not a familiar result for none of the two this term, but the away side might be happy to take one point if Inter are the ones who equalise. That said, the last three fixtures between the two has ended in a score draw.
Both teams to score at 1.60
Inter have only managed to keep two clean sheets in their last 13 games, whilst Roma are not experts themselves, with four clean sheets in the same amount of matches. The fire power up front will be decisive yet another game and there will be goals!
