27 July 2020
Tuesday 28 July
San Siro – Serie A
Napoli will be aiming to confirm their place in next season’s Europa League with a positive result away at Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri won’t be allowed to take a backwards step by the demanding Antonio Conte, either.
Inter won 3-1 away at Napoli earlier this season, but Gennaro Gattuso’s side edged past them in the Coppa Italia semi-finals following the campaign restart.
Romelu Lukaku scored a brace in the league meeting, with Lautaro Martinez adding Inter’s third and Arkadiusz Milik netting for the Partenopei.
The two cup fixtures saw Napoli win 1-0 at Inter through Fabian Ruiz and clinch a 1-1 draw in the return – Christian Eriksen opened the scoring after two minutes, but Dries Mertens equalised before half time.
Inter have no fresh injuries to deal with as they head into the end of season run in, with midfield pair Stefano Sensi and Matias Vecino ruled out. Stefan de Vrij’s knee injury could see him miss out again.
Napoli also have two long-term injury absentees, with David Ospina and Fernando Llorente out of action until next season.
Inter Milan vs. Napoli Preview and Predictions
Antonio Conte’s side have already secured their spot in the 2020-21 Champions League, with a strong points cushion inside the top four as it stands.
Just one defeat from their 10 league games following the return to action in June, has allowed the Milanese giants to solidify their position.
Napoli look well placed to claim a Europa League spot before the end of the current campaign, but Gattuso’s side are not quite there yet. Two points from their final three games will be enough to hold off a late winning run of results from eighth place Sassuolo.
Inter have been very consistent following their return to league action, but their recent home form has been mixed with three wins, two draws and a loss.
Napoli have sored in all but one of their last 11 games since mid-June, with six goals in five away games, so a both teams to score bet is possibly one to consider.
A 1-1 draw 6.80
Inter’s place in Europe in the 2020-21 season has been secured, and they have nothing left to play for. Despite Napoli’s position looking almost certain, they will still need to wrack up a few more points to make certain of their own fate.
Romelu Lukaku to score anytime 2.20
Lukaku has been key for Inter this season, and his has maintained his consistent goalscoring form following the restart, with four goals in his last ten appearances for Conte’s side. The Belgian international is up to 21 Serie A goals in his debut season in Italy, but he is unlikely to catch division leaders Ciro Immobile and Cristiano Ronaldo, both on 30 goals.
