Hoffenheim vs. Borussia Dortmund Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Borussia Dortmund will back themselves against anyone after going toe-to-toe with RB Leipzig, but Hoffenheim isn’t an easy play to visit. The home side have been struggling to collect enough points to compete at the top this season, but a win against Dortmund could help them kick-start their season and close some of the gap up to the top four.

Past Meetings

The last two games between the two sides have ended in a draw, with Hoffenheim winning one out of their two last home games against BVB. During the 2017-18 season they beat Dortmund 3-1 at ProZero Arena, whilst last season this match ended in a 1-1 draw. At Signal Iduna Park last season, they shared the spoils after an exciting 3-3 match in Dortmund and Hoffenheim will be confident against the Bundesliga giants also this time around.

Although, the win two seasons ago was only one out of five wins during a run of 24 meetings, whilst Dortmund have won 10 games against Die Kraichgauer. Dortmund were on an unbeaten run of 10 games against Hoffenheim before the home side picked up three points on May 12, 2018.

Team News

Axel Witsel is out until New Year with an absurd injury after he took a fall at home before winning 4-0 against Mainz. Lucien Favre could probably name the same XI as he picked against RB Leipzig in the mid-week and is only without Thomas Delaney, Marcel Schmelzer and Witsel.

Jadon Sancho scored in his seventh straight game in the 3-3 draw with Leipzig, but later left the match early due to injury, and he is rated doubtful here.

Hoffenheim are only forced to cope without Ishak Belfodil against BVB, who is out after having a surgery on his knee. He has already missed 10 games for Hoffenheim this season and they will be able to accommodate in an otherwise healthy squad.

Hoffenheim vs. Dortmund Preview and Predictions

After ending the last season as number nine in the Bundesliga, Hoffenheim are on the same path this season. Their home form needs a bit of adjustment, though, as they have gone three games without a win at ProZero Arena. They may be backed at 4.50 to win against Dortmund and stop BVB’s late upturn in 2019.

The away side arrive at Hoffenheim with two away wins in their two last matches and may be backed at 1.74 to win their third on the bounce on the road. This season Dortmund haven’t performed to their own standard but lately they’ve been looking fresh.

Favre’s job has been uncertain, and they might be tired after a tough home game against RB Leipzig during the week, but Sancho, who was criticised for his performances this season, has hit the heights of last year during the last period. Despite a tough start to the season, they have still found a way to compete at the top of the table and the good away form will be key to keep up with teams like RB Leipzig, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich in the hunt for the league title this term.

Die Schwarzgelben are scoring for fun lately and the same goes for Sancho, who has been scoring regularly. He’s also put his name down on the scoresheet in four out of seven away games in the league this season and will be looking to add to that tally when they face Hoffenheim at ProZero Arena.

The last two meetings between the two sides have ended in score draws though and another draw between Hoffenheim and Dortmund may be backed at 4.15.

Recommended Bets

Total goals in the first half Over 1.5 at 2.16

Hoffenheim are trying to stop their poor run at home and Dortmund are looking to continue their form away from home. The away side are looking a threat when they go forward and the start of the game could be decisive during their meeting. With 3-3 in their last meeting, we are betting on a lot of goals also this time around.

Dortmund to win and over 2.5 goals at 2.15

Dortmund could have gone to within a point of leaders Leipzig in midweek but for their inability to keep a clean sheet. This is a game that should have goals – and a Dortmund win.
