Hertha Berlin vs. Borussia Dortmund Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
18 November 2020
Saturday 21 November
Olympiastadion – Bundesliga
Title-chasing Borussia Dortmund return to Bundesliga action this weekend with a trip to face struggling Hertha Berlin. Dortmund are three points behind league leaders Bayern Munich and will know they can’t afford to fall to far back having lost to the Bavarians before the international break.
Lucien Favre’s side have a strong record against Hertha, winning home and away against them last season, with an unbeaten run of six Bundesliga games.
An Emre Can goal settled the score in Dortmund in June, while the November 2019 win in Berlin came via two early goals, Jadon Sancho and Thorgan Hazard scoring within minutes of each other in the first half. Vladimir Darida pulled a goal back before half time while Mats Hummels’ red card meant Dortmund played 45 minutes with 10 men, but held on for the pounts.
Hertha boss Bruno Labbadia has no fresh injuries to contend with ahead of this game with Jhon Cordoba and Jordan Torunarigha still out of action.
Defensive pair Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marcel Schmelzer are still sidelined for Dortmund, but Thomas Delaney should be fit in time to start.
Hertha Berlin vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview and Predictions
Hertha Berlin have endured a poor start to the 2020-21 Bundesliga season with four defeats from seven league games so far. They did reverse their worrying slide just before the international break with a vital 3-0 win away at Augsburg.
Dortmund have looked good so far in 2020-21 with five wins from their own opening seven games of the domestic campaign. However, the old rivalry with Bayern Munich still looks to be tipped in favour of the champions, as Dortmund lost 3-2 at home to Hans-Dieter Flick’s team just before the international window.
Despite the frustration of losing against Bayern on their last outing, Dortmund will be confident of securing all three points on the return to action, with an away win priced at 1.71. The home victory is 4.75 and would be a hammer blow to Dortmund’s title aspirations even at this early stage of the season, given their defeat to Bayern last time out. The draw, priced at 4.10, wouldn’t be much better.
Dortmund’s possible win would almost certainly come on the back of Erling Braut Haaland’s goals. Haaland has picked up where he left off from last season with an impressive 11 goals scored in all competitions in 2020-21 for the Norway international.
Borussia Dortmund to win 2-1 at 9.00
Dortmund will need to get back on track very quickly if they want to avoid chasing Bayern’s tail in 2021 and they need a crucial win in this game. Favre’s side will be relying on key stars Erling Braut Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus powering their title push in the coming months.
Dortmund to win and over 2.5 goals at 2.25
The visitors have also looked very strong in front of goal so far this season, with 15 Bundesliga goals in seven games at an average of just over two goals per game. Hertha, meanwhile, have conceded almost two goals per game.
