Hertha Berlin vs. Borussia Dortmund Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Two teams in the middle of a crisis are fighting it out at the Olympiastadion when Borussia Dortmund travel to meet Hertha Berlin in the German capital. BVB are coming to Berlin without a win in two games, facing a team struggling to keep the opposition at bay, conceding 12 goals in their last five home games.

Past Meetings

The last fixture at the Olympiastadion between the two ended in a 3-2 win for the visitors, when Marco Reus scored a late winner, adding to goals by Thomas Delaney and Dan Zagadou. Salomon Kalou scored a brace for the home side in that game, but could’t keep up their run of two home games without a loss to Dortmund. The away side this weekend are leading with 31-18-18 in the head-to-head record between the two, but Hertha have scored in their last three meetings, holding Dortmund to a score draw in two out of the last three.

Team News

The home side should have a healthy squad before the BVB comes to the capital, but they are still waiting for news on Sidney Freide, who has been out with a bruised foot at the start of October.

It’s still unsure if Paco Alcacer will play against Hertha on Saturday, as he has only just come back from a knee injury, but it’s almost sure that they will be without Thomas Delaney, who they lost to an ankle injury. The midfielder also missed the 3-3 match against Paderborn because of a torn ligament. The left back Marcel Schmelzer is still out with a strain and has already missed eight matches due to the injury he sustained in mid-October. Jacob Bruun Larsen should be back in contention though after suffering from a gastro problem during the midweek.

Hertha Berlin vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview and Predictions

Ante Covic hasn’t hit the ground running after being promoted through the ranks, landing the the top job at Hertha this summer. Hertha are currently suffering on a run of four consecutive losses in the Bundesliga. After suffering a big 4-0 defeat agasint Augsburg last round, they need to bounce back, but the opportunity doesn’t present itself immediately and without them digging very deep. Hertha may be backed at 4.40 to get a surprising win at home, whilst they are at 4.00 to keep Dortmund to another draw and their third game without a win in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund are still five points off the lead and have been suffering in Lucien Favre’s second season at the helm. The coach is under a lot of pressure and need a win in the capital. BVB may be backed at 1.80 to win Despite the fact that Dortmund are struggling to get through a small crisis, they are still in with a shout in the title fight. Borussia Monchengladbach are top in the Bundesliga, but are only leading Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig by one point and with a long way to go, BVB might fancy their chances to turn the season around, but they can’t keep dropping points, like they did against Paderborn last round. Their last win came against Wolfsburg before the international break and they have since lost Der Klasiker to Bayern.

The poor results are also leading to speculation surrounding the future of the biggest stars at the Signal Iduna Park, and Jadon Sancho has been a target for the top clubs in Europe lately. Now, he might be looking to get out, to make sure he plays for a team which challenges for titles every year. Another incentive for Dortmund to turn the tide will be the ability to keep hold of their stars.

Recommended Bets

Both teams to score at 1.62

Borussia Dortmund have only kept four clean sheets in 12 games so far, and as many as four of their games have ended in a score draw this season – including a 3-3 draw with Paderborn last round. Hertha will be looking to get a look at goal at home and have scored at least twice in their four last home games, despite losing two of them.

Dortmund to win and both teams to score at 3.00

Dortmund will need to get back on track to keep up with the top sides in the Bundesliga and Hertha Berlin are on a very poor run themselves. Their last two home games have ended in 3-2 and 4-2 losses against Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig respectively. It doesn’t get any easier against BVB.
