Granada vs. Manchester United Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
07 April 2021
Thursday 8 April
Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes – Europa League
Manchester United will be aiming to make a positive start in their push to reach the Europa League semi finals as they head to Granada in the last eight. United won their first ever UEFA Cup/Europa League title in 2017 and are favoured in the online football betting this time around too.
United cruised past Real Sociedad in the last 32 but they have never faced Granada in competitive action before. Indeed, this is Granada’s first-ever involvement in European competition.
Granada boss Diego Martinez could rotate his starting options for the visit of United with veteran pair Antonio Puertas and Jorge Molina potentially set to start.
Solskjaer could also shuffle his starting pack in Andalucia with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both expected to be fit in time to feature.
Granada vs. Manchester United Preview and Predictions
Granada have impressed with their consistency again this season after securing their first ever European qualification in 2020. Martinez’s side squeezed past Molde in the previous round but they look well placed to seal another European place via La Liga this season.
United won 2-1 on aggregate against AC Milan in the last 16 after an impressive 4-0 two legged win over La Real in the previous round. Solskjaer’s side are in a strong position to secure a Champions League place via a Premier League Top Four finish with an unbeaten run of nine league games ahead of this tie.
With the Europa League representing United’s only chance of silverware this season they will push hard in the Europa League, and they should get a vital win in this one, with an away victory priced at 1.60. The home win comes in at 5.75, with the draw at 3.55. To qualify, Granada are 4.60, while United are 1.60.
Bruno Fernandes has proven the difference for United in many games this season with the Portuguese international already netting 22 club goals in 2020-21. That’s likely to be the case here again, as Fernandes maintains his position as something of a talisman for this United team. When they need a moment of inspiration, it’s to him that they look.
Manchester United to win 2-1 at 7.25
A win for United would put them in a strong position for the second leg at Old Trafford a week later and Solskjaer is determined to win his first trophy as United boss. Two away goals should effectively kill the tie, even if Granada to get on the scoresheet themselves.
Both teams to score at 2.00
Despite improving in recent months, United have struggled to keep clean sheets with just two to speak of in their last four games in all competitions, prior to the weekend’s fixtures, alongside Granada’s record of scoring in all of their last eight games regardless of the final result.
