Germany vs. Northern Ireland Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
14 November 2019
Tuesday 19 November
Germany have won four of their last five games in the group, but still need to be alert as they welcome Michael O’Neill’s spirited Northern Irish side who still harbour hopes of making it to the tournament. Germany will want to seal qualification to Euro 2020 with a win against a Northern Ireland side who are only three points behind them in group C.
Germany beat Northern Ireland in a crucial game at Windsor Park in September 2-0.
Germany have a depleted squad going into their games against Belarus and Northern Ireland. Half a dozen first team regulars are out through injury. However, it is still a squad packed with household names. Defender Niklas Stark will have to play with a protective mask after suffering a broken nose and two black eyes after getting caught by an opponent in Hertha Berlin’s 4-2 loss to RB Leipzig.
Northern Ireland’s manager Michael O’Neill recently announced that he was leaving his position of manager after eight years in the role. O’Neill has taken over at Stoke and will leave the role at the end of the campaign. O’Neill has confirmed that if his side make it into the playoffs for Euro 2020, he will stay in the job to oversee the two matches.
Germany vs. Northern Ireland Preview and Predictions
Germany know this is a must-win game. If Northern Ireland beat the Netherlands and Germany emerge victorious against Belarus, then this match will effectively be a playoff to see who finishes second in the group. However with the Germans facing a mini-injury crisis, they will find it difficult to break down a rugged Northern Irish side.
Northern Ireland will need a victory against the Netherlands just to make sure this match is meaningful. They have found goals hard to come by, but they’ve also been solid in defence, conceding just seven goals so far. However with Germany at home, you suspect that the away side will just fall short of leaving Frankfurt with any points.
Germany to win to nil
Northern Ireland aren’t the most prolific of teams and even in a game that they’ll need to win, there’s no guarantee they’ll have the firepower to get on the score sheet.
Under 3.5 goals in the game
While Northern Ireland aren’t expected to score, they’re not expected to suffer a heavy defeat either. Germany will be asked to work for the points and would do well to score more than two goals.
