Saturday 10 April
Selhurst Park – Premier League
Chelsea will be aiming to reignite their top four challenge as they head across London to face Crystal Palace this weekend. Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten start as Blues boss was ended with a shock 5-2 defeat against West Brom last time out, a result that few in the online football betting world saw coming.
Chelsea cruised to a 4-0 win at home to Crystal Palace earlier this season and they have won their last six games against the Eagles.
Defenders Ben Chilwell and Kurt Zouma scored in the second half to put the Blues into a two-goal lead in that October meeting, before two penalties from midfielder Jorginho turned the scoreline into something of a rout.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson will wait on some late fitness news before naming his side with Cheikhou Kouyate and James McCarthy both facing tests. The Eagles had a Monday draw at Everton prior to this game.
Chelsea will be without Thiago Silva through suspension with Andreas Christensen set to replace him in the starting XI alongside the fit again N’Golo Kante. Chelsea also have a Champions League tie with Porto to navigate too.
Crystal Palace vs. Chelsea Preview and Predictions
Crystal Palace look to have already secured their place in the Premier League for next season with eight games still to play in 2020-21. Hodgson’s side have lost just once in their last seven games in Premier League action, and they will be confident of cruising on to the end of the campaign.
Chelsea slipped to a surprise 5-2 defeat at home to West Brom last time out with Tuchel’s strong start at the club hitting its first bump in the road. However, with his side still on course for a Champions League qualification spot he needs to generate an immediate response from his players ahead of the all-important end of season run in.
With the pressure on Chelsea to react, Tuchel’s all-star names should have enough to secure all three points, with an away win priced at 1.54. The draw comes in at 3.95, while Palace are a big 7.00 to win at home here.
Tammy Abraham is the Blues’ top scorer in Premier League action this season, with six goals in 12 starts, and he will be one to watch in this clash in South London. Tuchel may also look to rotate with midweek commitments in mind, possibly giving Abraham a start.
Chelsea to win 2-0 at 6.50
Chelsea need to win this game to avoid letting their rivals gain an advantage in the Top Four battle and they should have enough to see off a Palace side with little left to play for this season.
Both teams not to score at 1.64
Tuchel has really improved Chelsea’s defensive record in 2021 with an incredible record of just two goals conceded in the 14 games prior to the West Brom loss under the German coach.
