Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Arsenal have boosted their confidence with two wins and two clean sheets, preparing to travel across London to face a Crystal Palace above them on the table. On the other hand, the Eagles have been struggling with a long injury list of late and hope to recover some of their players ahead of the meeting with an Arsenal determined to build on their good start to 2020.

Past Meetings

Roy Hodgson’s men are unbeaten in three against the Gunners, despite conceding six goals in the process. Arsenal’s last win against the Eagles came in January 2018, when they won 4-1 at the Emirates, whilst the reverse fixture this season ended in a 2-2 draw in North London. Arsenal went up 2-0 within the first 10 minutes, but a penalty from Luka Milivojevic right after the half hour mark and a second half goal from Jordan Ayew equalised the opening goals by Arsenal’s defensive duo Sokratis Papastathopolous and David Luiz. The meeting between the two London sides are always exciting and full of goals. The two teams have scored 36 goals combined during the last 10 games.

Team News

Roy Hodgson has pledged his board to bring in some reinforcements at the Selhurst Park this winter, as his injury list became even longer with an injury to Mamadou Sakho during the first round after New Year’s. They are already without Andros Townsend, Jeffrey Schlupp, James Ward, Scott Dann, Christian Benteke and Patrick van Aanholt and Gary Cahill.

Mikel Arteta lost Calum Chambers for the rest of the season and might try to replace him in January, whilst former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney is also carrying a shoulder injury. Other than that, the Spanish tactician should be able to call on the rest of his men ahead of the match against ninth-placed Palace.

Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal Preview and Predictions

The Gunners appointed Mikel Arteta during the busy festive period and have kicked on after losing their last game in 2019 against another top four team in Chelsea. The Gunners have kept a clean sheet in both of their games in the new year but are yet to play away ahead of the tip to Selhurst Park.

During the three last home games, two in the Premier League, Arsenal are stuck at 10th in the table, but will have a great opportunity to leapfrog their opponents with a win on Saturday. Arsenal can be backed at 1.86 to win the game against Palace, with the draw at 3.85 and a home win at 4.10.

Palace are still in the top half of the table but are without a win in two Premier League matches, both ending in a 1-1 draw away against Southampton and Norwich respectively. They were back at their own turf in the FA Cup against Derby County but were knocked out of the tournament thanks to a first-half goal by Chris Martin.

Arsenal will have to continue their good start to life under Arteta to keep their fans satisfied, as their troubled start to the season has seen them stuck in rut in the middle of the table. The win against Manchester United in the last league match was the first in four games, after struggling to put together a string of performances during the festive period.

Nicolas Pepe scored his third goal of the season against United and Arteta is hoping to see more from the club’s record signing during the months ahead. Crystal Palace have been struggling for goals, but the performances of the Arsenal strikers haven’t been up to their standard either. Despite the lack of fire-power during the recent weeks, form seems to be put aside when these two local rivals meet and we expect another open ended match.

Total amount of goals Over 3.5 at 2.90

Arsenal and Crystal Palace ‘never’ play a dull game and if they go down the same path this weekend, it may be another big score. The last five games between the two sides have ended in four goals or more and the punters will wish for the goals to continue.

Draw with goals at 4.45

Arsenal haven’t conceded any goals in their first two games in 2020, but Crystal Palace might have to score to get something from their home game against the Gunners. The record says that it’s highly probable that both teams score during this affair and the odds of a draw with goals is hard to overlook.
