Chelsea vs. Tottenham, Betting Tips and Previews

Stamford Bridge – Premier League
Tottenham will eye an opportunity when they travel across London to face top four contenders Chelsea but will have to cope without two of their most prolific strikers. Jose Mourinho received more bad news on the injury front this week, whilst Frank Lampard will have to lift the spirit after another setback against Manchester United at the Bridge.
Chelsea won the reverse fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term, but much has changed since the 2-0 win in December. These two sides are used to battling it out in the Premier League and Chelsea have recently reclaimed their grip on this fixture, after struggling against the Lilywhites for some time. Chelsea have won their three last matches against Spurs but had gone three before that without gaining a point against their rivals. Two of those last six matches came in the League Cup semi-finals last term, when Chelsea went through to the Final after penalties.
Chelsea have been without Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marco van Ginkel for the whole season and Frank Lampard has no other excuses than their absence ahead of the big match against the Lilywhites. Chelsea have Christian Pulisic bank in their ranks and could play their strongest XI against Tottenham.
Tottenham announced that Heung-min Son will be out for a while with a fractured arm after the match against Aston Villa, adding to the current woes of being without Harry Kane for the remainder of the season. Moussa Sissoko has also missed their last nine games because of a knee injury and Mourinho will have to find a solution to help continue their recent form this weekend.
Chelsea vs. Tottenham Preview and Predictions
Another poor result for Chelsea on Monday made sure that Tottenham are only one point behind them in the League, as Frank Lampard’s men have thrown away a firm grip on the fourth place over the recent weeks. The Blues are struggling to finish off the games despite being in control and suffered defeat against rivals Manchester United after dominating the procedures in London this week.
They will have to prepare well and erase the mistakes if they are to get the best of Spurs on Saturday, when they may be backed at 1.83 to win the game. Chelsea have been somewhat unlucky and had a fair few controversial decisions go against them earlier this week, but a run of one win in their last five League games can’t just be unluck.
The Blues must hope that the absence of matchwinner from Tottenham’s triumph against Aston Villa last weekend could prevent the visitors from storming to their fourth win on the bounce. Tottenham are currently on a run of seven games unbeaten – including a 2-0 win at home against Manchester City in the League.
The Lilywhites look like real contenders for a place among the top four this term, as both sides are also preparing for their respective matches in the last 16 of the Champions League next week. Spurs are currently on much more stable form than their opponents and may be backed at 4.25 to win the match, with a draw at 3.90.
Chelsea have a good grip on their rivals from London, but this local derby is more open than the odds would state. And despite missing some of their key members, it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if Chelsea’s current form continues Saturday and Spurs travel back home after having leapfrogged their rivals in a direct battle for a place in the Champions League next term.
Tottenham to win and both teams to score at 7.00
After three defeats in a row, Spurs are looking to get one over their old foe and Mourinho should be the man to get them over the line. He has struggled against his old team previously, but even if Spurs aren’t clean sheet experts, they manage to find a way to win lately. The odds are too high to look away.
Double chance X or 2 at 2.10
Chelsea have only won once in their last five Premier League games and if they don’t wake up and continue their recent performances in another game against a direct rival, it could mean that you have the possibility double your money if you back them to not win this one either.
