Chelsea vs. Southampton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Chelsea are aiming to return to winning ways at Stamford Bridge, as Southampton head for West London. The Saints are looking for an unlikely three points to help towards their relegation fight.

Past Meetings

Chelsea won 4-1 away at Southampton earlier this season, and the Blues are unbeaten in their last nine games against the Saints.

Team News

Chelsea’s only injury concern ahead of the visit of Ralph Hasenshuttl’s side is an injury to centre back Fikayo Tomori, with Antonio Rudiger set to continue in his place.

The news is more positive for the visitors, with midfielder Moussa Djenepo returning to the squad following a thigh injury.

Chelsea vs. Southampton Preview and Predictions

Chelsea’s home form has been inconsistent in recent weeks, with just one win from their last three league games at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard will want to steady their form against the struggling Saints, with a testing run of fixtures on the horizon for his side.

Southampton have struggled away from home of late, with no win in their last five league games on the road.

Hasenhuttl’s side are already in early relegation danger, and they will find it tough going against Champions League chasing Chelsea.

Despite their patchy run, Chelsea are still strong favourites here, and at 0.3 to win, they still have some value as an option.

Lampard’s side have scored two or more goals in their last four home games, and they are at 0.6 to go one better and win, with over2.5 total goals scored here.

Recommended Bets

Chelsea to win 2-1 at 7.5

There does appear to be a few issues with Chelsea at the moment, after their excellent start to the season, but they should have enough for an important three points here.

Tammy Abraham to score first at 2.9

England international Abraham has been the main man for Chelsea so far this season, with 11 Premier League goals so far, including one against Southampton in the reverse fixture back in October.
