Chelsea vs. Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
05 March 2021
Monday 8 March
Stamford Bridge - Premier League
Chelsea host Everton at Stamford Bridge on Monday, as these two clubs vie for a place in the Premier League’s top four and next season’s Champions League. It’s a second straight dose of Monday night football for the Toffees, with both teams back in the thick of the football betting online following their Thursday duties.
The last four meetings between these clubs have all ended in home wins, with Everton victorious on three occasions. That includes a 1-0 triumph at Goodison Park in December, with Gylfi Sigurdsson netting a decisive first-half penalty. Chelsea have only won one of their last six games against the Toffees, while Everton’s last victory at Stamford Bridge was all the way back in 1994.
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is hoping to have key defender Thiago Silva available for this game, although the Brazilian won’t be rushed back from a thigh injury. Tammy Abraham has a minor ankle problem, as the young Englishman attempts to win the trust of his new manager.
Carlo Ancelotti ought to have a raft of players available after some time on the treatment table, with James Rodriguez, Seamus Coleman and Tom Davies all set to be in contention for this game. Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin have all been ruled out though.
Chelsea vs. Everton Preview and Predictions
Everton are looking to end almost three decades of hurt at Stamford Bridge, as the Toffees head to the capital in search of their first Premier League away win at Chelsea in over 26 years. The Blues have won 14 of their 25 meetings in west London since, including seven of the last nine.
Chelsea celebrated a resounding 4-0 victory over Everton at the Bridge in the final game before lockdown last March. However, the Toffees have shown real improvement over the 12 months since, finding themselves right in the hunt for the top four as the season heads towards its crescendo.
An empty Stamford Bridge and their form this term - which has recovered from back-to-back home defeats to Fulham and Manchester City - give Everton a great chance of finally ending their Stamford Bridge hoodoo. The Toffees beat Liverpool and Southampton without conceding a goal prior to their visit to West Bromwich Albion on Thursday, and the visitors could prove excellent value for the win here at 6.00.
Chelsea are the 1.54 favourites though, taking an undefeated record under Tuchel into their own trip to Anfield to play Liverpool on Thursday night. The Blues are yet to truly click going forward under their new boss, but the German coach has tightened things up drastically at the back.
There isn’t much separating these teams in terms of league position, with the draw on Monday priced at 4.20 in the betting. The run of four straight home wins in this fixture was preceded by a pair of goalless draws. Chelsea drew their last home game against Manchester United 0-0, with the same result here available at 10.25.
Both teams not to score at 1.80
Only one of the last six meetings between these clubs have seen both teams score. None of their last four Premier League encounters at Stamford Bridge have seen both teams hit the back of the net, with Chelsea priced at 2.25 to win to nil.
Chelsea to win 1-0 at 6.25
Everton are a different beast this season, but Chelsea have shown real improvement since Tuchel arrived in west London. The Blues have an excellent home record against the Toffees, but this game could be a close one settled by the odd goal.
