Stamford Bridge – Premier League

Bournemouth will be working hard to upset the celebrations at Chelsea this weekend, as they are trying to give their fall a landing. The Blues are flying high after qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, but the Cherries would love to bring them straight back down to earth.

Past Meetings

Bournemouth can take confidence from the meeting between the two sides in January, when the Cherries won 4-0 over the Blues, collecting six points in their last three Premier League meetings. But Chelsea won two games in a row between the two losses to the Cherries and all of the four last meetings has ended with one of the teams leaving the pitch without scoring.

Joshua King scored a brace when Eddie Howe’s men trashed the Blues at the Vitality Stadium in January, but the last meeting at Stamford Bridge ended in a 1-0 win for the hosts – when now Real Madrid star Eden Hazard scored the winner in the 84th minute to send them through to the next round in the Carabao Cup.

Team News

Chelsea seem to have recovered most of their players ahead of this weekend’s match and haven’t picked up any new problems during their midweek encounter with Lille from Ligue 1. Frank Lampard has confirmed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek doesn’t look like he will be back anytime soon, but other than that he could pick from an unscathed troop.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, are suffering with a lot of problems lately. It has contributed to a horrid form and are still waiting for long-term absentees Junior Stanislas, David Brooks and Charlie Daniels. They might have to cope without former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake, who has pulled his hamstring and was sorely missed during last weekend. Both strikers King and Callum Wilson are doubtful ahead of the game, but Howe will hope he gets at least one of them back for the big game in the capital.

Chelsea vs. Bournemouth Preview and Predictions

Tammy Abraham’s second goal in the Champions League helped the striker continue to impress also in Europe, where the Blues are through to the last 16. Chelsea have been struggling with a bit of an inconsistent run in their domestic competitions but are still fourth in the League after 16 games. It’s expected that they will be getting three more points against the Cherries and may be backed at 0.00 to win their next home game.

Bournemouth are in the middle of a crisis and are struggling to cope with the tough programme in the Premier League. They are in a run of five consecutive games without at least a point and the fall gets heavier for every week. Howe and his men need to pick up some points if they are to avoid being dragged down into the relegation zone, as they’re now only two points away from Southampton on the 18th place in the top division.

Bournemouth rose to the scene and climbed all the way to the elite in England, but now they are in a very difficult spell and if they don’t start picking up the points anytime soon, it may send them back to the Championship already in 2020-21.

If they can’t recover Wilson or King for the game at the Bridge, they will not be confident of getting anything this weekend, but even if it could lead to their sixth consecutive defeat, it’s not Chelsea they expect to beat. Lampard has brought the best out of the youngsters in London and will be trying to build on their form to make the stay among the top four around the festive period. But their 3-1 loss to struggling Everton last weekend will be in the back of their heads and they would love to revenge themselves immediately.

They are two completely different situations at both clubs since the big shock made by Bournemouth in January and it’s difficult to see them repeat the story this time around.

Recommended Bets

Chelsea to win to nil at 2.15

If Bournemouth won’t have their two best forwards ready for the game, it will be difficult to break down a Chelsea side who saw the return of the influential defender Antonio Rüdiger from injury this week. Chelsea are struggling to kill the games, but the Cherries poor form will probably help them get a good experience this Saturday.

Both teams not to score at 1.85

In the last four fixtures between these two sides, one of the teams have left the pitch without scoring and Chelsea are in need of a clean sheet after again proving to step of the gas during the midweek. They need to make a statement and Bournemouth might be an easy target, as they are struggling with their confidence during a difficult spell. It’s more likely to end 0-0, than for Chelsea to not score, punting on Bournemouth to leave Stamford Bridge without finding the net.
