Brentford vs. Chelsea Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
14 October 2021
Brentford Community Stadium – Premier League
Premier League leaders Chelsea face a local derby clash this weekend as they travel across the capital to play in-form Brentford. The Blues currently have a one-point lead over their rivals at the top, with Brentford in seventh place.
Chelsea won 3-0 in their last meeting with the Bees in the 2016-17 FA Cup, and they are unbeaten in their last six games against them. Check out the Spin Sports blog to see if Thomas Tuchel can stretch that run further as we delve deeper into the online football betting.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has no fresh injury concerns to worry about, with Mads Sørensen and Joshua Dasilva still sidelined. Kristoffer Ajer should be fit in time to start though.
Chelsea face a long list of injury concerns ahead of this weekend, with the international break further impacting on Tuchel’s squad. Reece James and Christian Pulisic are both out due to long-standing injuries, while Thiago Silva and Romelu Lukaku look set to miss out and N’Golo Kanté is rated as doubtful.
Brentford vs. Chelsea Preview and Predictions
Brentford’s start to Premier League life has been one of the big stories of 2021-22, with the Bees losing just once in their debut top-flight campaign and winning a string of neutral admirers over the opening weeks of the campaign. Frank’s side have hauled themselves up to seventh place in the table, with seven points from their last three games in league action.
Chelsea have looked to click back into gear right from the start of the 2021-22 season, with just one defeat in domestic action so far this season. Tuchel’s side reacted to their home defeat by Manchester City with a 3-1 win over Southampton last time out and they will be keen to extend that positive run this weekend against the Premier League new boys.
With Chelsea missing some key names though, Brentford will sense a chance to keep their eye-catching start going on home soil, and a draw comes in at 3.90. In Lukaku's potential absence from Chelsea’s team, the focus could fall on Brentford’s two attackers, Bryan Mbuemo and Ivan Toney. They have both started the season strongly in front of goal, and could be worth a look in the anytime scorer market.
A 1-1 draw at 8.75
A draw for Chelsea will likely dent their early season title push, with rival sides all in action over the weekend. However, injuries for the visitors and Brentford’s positive form means they may have to settle for a point in north west London.
Both teams to score at 1.86
Chelsea’s strong defensive record from 2020-21 has dipped slightly this season with just four clean sheets from seven games, while Brentford have scored at least once in five out of seven Premier League games.
