Bayern Munich vs. Schalke Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
23 January 2020
Saturday 25 January
Allianz Arena – Bundesliga
Schalke are hoping to edge into the top four in the Bundesliga as they travel to face serial champions Bayern Munich. Can Robert Lewandowski and co put the in-form home side to the sword and keep their own title aspirations alive?
This fixture ended in a 3-1 win to the Bavarians last season between the sides, while Bayern also won 3-1 at Schalke earlier this term. Schalke haven’t beaten Bayern since 2010.
Schalke goalkeeper Alex Nubel won’t face the side he will join this coming summer, with a €23m fee agreed several weeks ago. The goalkeeper got sent off in the 1-0 win against Frankfurt before Christmas and is suspended for four games, with the game against his future employers his last game out.
Bayern meanwhile have no new injury worries. However, they do have several players on the verge of suspensions. Jerome Boateng and Robert Lewandowski both have four yellow cards, and one will mean they will have to serve a suspension got accumulating too many yellow cards.
Bayern Munich vs. Schalke Preview and Predictions
This won’t be an easy game for Bayern, Schalke have recovered their form in recent weeks. However you still expect the Bavarian heavyweights to come out with the win. Bayern are priced at 1.17 for the three points while Schalke – despite only sitting three points further back – are 16.00. The draw is 7.75.
Robert Lewandowski has been in sensational form this season, with 20 goals in 18 Bundesliga games, and he could well be the man to open the scoring for the Bavarians. The Poland international is far from the only threat posed, either, as Thiago Alcantara, Ivan Perisic, Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry and Joshua Zirkzee have all been in the goals lately.
Schalke will push Bayern and might travel with some semblance of confidence as they’re unbeaten in their last four league games. But it’s likely to be misplaced as Bayern are still too storng for most of the Bundesliga, and expect them to keep the pressure on leaders RB Leipzig.
Bayern to score over 2.5 goals at 1.28
Bayern have scored six, three, two and four in their last four Bundesliga games, so it’s not a stretch to suggest they might get three here.
Bayern to win to nil 2.10
Schalke struggle to score goals in the Bundesliga, they have the joint-fifth best record, but the worst out of sides in the top five. Bayern could win without reply from the away side.
