Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund, Betting Tips and Previews
08 November 2019
Saturday 9 November
Allianz Arena – Bundesliga
Bayern Munich sacked their manager after the last loss and are looking to get back on track in this season’s second Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund. The shocking result against Eintracht Frankfurt sent Niko Kovac packing, but it had been a long time coming, and now they need to show their resilience against a confident away side coming off another great win against Inter in the midweek.
It’s not called Der Klassiker for no reason and this time it might be as important as ever for the home side. They are fourth in the league, one point behind Dortmund, but the stats at Allianz are in their favour.
They have only lost 11 times in the last 56 home games against Dortmund and will be looking to better the stat by taking confidence from last year’s 5-0 win at home. The year before they won 6-0 at home and are showing Dortmund that they can’t expect any mercy at the Allianz. The last fixture between the two ended with a 2-0 win for Dortmund in the Super Cup, though, but at the Signal Iduna Park. It’s a completely open match, but previous experience show that it could end in a big score.
Jerome Boateng was sent off against Frankfurt last round, and it comes at a bad time for the reigning champions. They are facing their rivals without Boateng and Niklas Süle - who will be out for the rest of the season. With also the new recruit Lucas Hernandez not expected back until Christmas this year, Bayern could have needed a fit Boateng this weekend.
Other than an injury to Marcel Schmelzer, who has been out since the 1-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga, the visitors should be all fit and ready to go against Bayern. They were sweating on Marco Reus in the midweek, but it seems like he should be ready for this year’s first Klassiker.
Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview and Predictions
Former Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is proving to be what’s missing up front for the away side this season. When Paco Alcacer is missing for the guests, they are without an all-out striker in the team. Lewandowski still found the net even during the nightmare against Frankfurt, and it seems like he can’t stop scoring.
Bayern lost their first home game this season against Hoffenheim on October 5 but were back on track against Union Berlin later that month. They give 1.57 to win at home against Dortmund, who haven’t won away since they beat Slavia Praha in the Champions League over a month ago. They are 5.60 to win at Allianz for the first time since April 2017, with a draw at 4.65.
Since Bayern Munich won 3-1 on November 11, 2017, all the last five meetings between the two sides have ended in a home win. And Bayern will be looking to use Der Klassiker to get back on track and there’s no better way than to do it against their biggest rivals at home.
Bayern to win by two goals at 4.40
Bayern Munich haven’t been as convincing as they have been previously and probably won’t repeat the massive home wins from the two last seasons. Still they are the favourites to take another three point in the Bundesliga and will be trying to show why they needed to get rid off Niko Kovac. Expect a feisty match.
Total Team Goals Bayern Munich Over 2.5 at 2.25
Robert Lewandowski has scored 14 times in 10 games on his own and Bayern average on 4.10 goals a game this season. Six out of 10 matches have ended with four goals or more, whilst Borussia Dortmund have played in seven matches ending with four goals or more.
