Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
06 March 2020
Saturday 7 March
Camp Nou – La Liga
Barcelona look to bounce back from a potentially pivotal El Clasico defeat, as they host in-form Real Sociedad on Saturday evening. La Real have won their last five games.
Sociedad held Barcelona to a 2-2 draw at the Anoeta Stadium earlier in the season, taking the lead through Mikel Oyarzabal, before Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez reclaimed the advantage for Barcelona, only for Alexander Isak to equalise again.
Quique Setien may look to introduce Martin Braithwaite from the start, after Barcelona offered little going forward against Real Madrid. Ansu Fati is another that had to make do with a start on the bench on Sunday night, but may be favoured over Arturo Vidal on Saturday. Ousamane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto remain long-term absences.
With a mid-week game at Mirandes, Ilmanol Aguacil may be forced into more rotations than he has been accustomed to this season. Portu may come in for Adnan Januzaj on the right flank, whilst Willian Jose may be given a run out on Wednesday, allowing Alexander Isak to start against Barcelona.
Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad Predictions, Preview and Predictions
Barcelona lost their lead in the La Liga table on Sunday, and could risk falling further behind as they face a difficult Real Sociedad side this weekend. Barca are 1.36 to win, with the draw at 5.45 and the visitors at 8.00.
Aguacil’s side sit in the Europa League play-off position in sixth with a game in hand and just three points off Sevilla in third place. To make things better for the Basque club, Socieded are current La Liga’s most in-form team, as the only club to have won all of their last three games.
The visitors travel to the Camp Nou in the best place to achieve a victory, facing an out-of-sorts Barcelona club, and with La Real’s squad built around blistering pace on the counter-attack. The likes of Oyarzabal and Isak are certain to cause serious problems for the likes of Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets, whilst Martin Odegaard is having his break-out La Liga season.
For Setien, getting his team to convert their possession into goals is the current issue, as with Lionel Messi going through a, comparatively, dry spell, Barcelona are struggling to convert chances. As a result, Martin Braithwaite may be the best solution for this weekend’s game, providing a reference point for the creative players.
If the home side fail to break the deadlock early, their style of play is highly vulnerable to Real Sociedad and they could well be in danger of a third game without a win.
Isak to score anytime at 3.3
The young Swedish striker enhanced his reputation with a brace against Real Madrid, and will be looking to score against La Liga’s other powerhouse club.
Both teams to score at 1.62
Barcelona have the quality to break the deadlock, but may overexpose themselves in defence in order to do so.
