Barcelona vs. Getafe Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
13 February 2020
Camp Nou – La Liga
Reigning champions Barcelona have been out of form as of late, and are still relying on moments of brilliance from Lionel Messi to get them out of trouble. There is also internal fighting in the Barca camp, so can they put their differences aside as they welcome Getafe?
Barcelona came away with a 2-0 victory against Getafe earlier in the season. Messi – who else – opened the scoring, before Junior Firpo sealed the win. Barca ended the game with 10 men, when Clement Lenglet was dismissed late on.
Barcelona are without Luis Suarez for the remainder of the season after the striker suffered a knee injury. Left winger Ousmane Dembele has relapsed in his effort to return to full fitness, and is now expected to be out until May. Clement Lenglet is also out through suspension for the Catalan outfit.
Getafe meanwhile are without right-back Damian Suarez through suspension.
Barcelona vs. Getafe Preview and Predictions
The reigning champions are stuttering in the league and have lost top spot to Real Madrid. Los Blancos go into the weekend with a three-point lead over Barca, while seven points separate Barca and Getafe – the unlikely Champions League challengers.
However despit their poor form, they should have enough magic left in the side to see off third-placed Getafe, although the lesser known Madrid side won’t make it easy. They’ve won their last four league games and not conceded in any of them, beating Leganes 3-0, Real Betis 1-0, Athletic Bilbao 2-0 and Valencia 3-0 in their last outing.
Barca are nevertheless the favourites and rightfully so given the presence of Messi, the home side available at 1.44 for the win. The draw is 4.50 with Getafe at 7.75 for the victory.
Under 2.5 goals at 2.10
Getafe have goals in them and don’t concede many – but it’s the latter that’s going to be the priority when they go to Camp Nou. Jose Bordalas is an enterprising coach but discretion is the better part of valour.
Barcelona to score first 1.32
Barce are vulnerable defensively, however they can score at will when they mood takes them, expect Messi and co to strike first.
