Atalanta host Real Madrid at the Gewiss Stadium on Wednesday night, in the first leg of this Champions League knockout tie. The visitors are the team with all the European history, but the hosts are capable of playing some exhilarating attacking football heading into the latest mobile online betting for this game.

Past Meetings

This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams. The fixture will be Madrid’s 100th in the Champions League knockout rounds, as the Spanish giants become the first club to reach that landmark. Los Blancos have lifted the famous big-eared trophy a record 13 times, while this is only Atalanta’s second appearance in Europe’s premier cup competition, following last season’s debut.

Team News

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini only has one injury concern heading into this huge fixture. Dutch defender Hans Hateboer has been ruled out, but La Dea have a fully-fit squad apart from that. Colombian duo Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata will pose a serious threat up top for the home team.

That’s particularly poignant due to Madrid’s problems in defence. Captain Sergio Ramos is out with a knee injury, while Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal and Marcelo are all injured too. Likewise Federico Valverde, Rodrygo and Alvaro Odriozola, although Eden Hazard is back in training ahead of yet another comeback.

Atalanta vs. Real Madrid Preview and Predictions

Atalanta are looking to put their inconsistent Serie A form to one side as they bid to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for a second successive season. The competition’s record winners stand in their way, but Real Madrid are not the force they were in recent years.

Los Blancos are toiling their way through their La Liga title defence, although they have managed to hit some form on the domestic front. They only lost one of their 13 league matches prior to Saturday’s trip to Real Valladolid, winning 10 and keeping seven clean sheets in the process.

Madrid were far from convincing in the group stage of the Champions League, although they did end up topping Group B after beating Inter Milan home and away and seeing off Borussia Monchengladbach in their final fixture.

Atalanta, meanwhile, finished runners-up to Liverpool in Group D. La Dea’s only defeat was a 5-0 drubbing at home to the Premier League champions, which they avenged at Anfield before also beating Ajax away to seal their place in the round of 32.

The Nerazzurri are looking to find their consistency in Serie A, after two wins, three draws and a defeat in their six matches prior to Sunday’s date with Napoli. Atalanta do still have the second-best attack in the Italian top flight behind leaders Inter though, and they are only narrow underdogs here at 2.65. Madrid are 2.50 for the win, while the draw’s priced at 3.75.
