Aston Villa vs. Manchester City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Manchester City are aiming to keep some pressure on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, while Aston Villa are fighting for their future. A home win against the champions would be a crucial boost to Villa’s morale as well as their points tally.

Past Meetings

Manchester City beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in October, with Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan all on target.

City have won five of their last six Premier League meetings with Villa, and drawn one.

Team News

Villa have no fresh injury news as they prepare to host the defending champions, with Wesley, Tom Heaton, John McGinn and Matt Targett all still sidelined.

Manchester City should have Ederson back following suspension and illness for the Brazilian international, with Nicolas Otamendi also pushing for a recall.

Aston Villa vs. Manchester City Preview and Predictions

Villa’s Premier League woes continue to deepen, with a mixture of poor form and injuries to key players driving them closer to the relegation zone in recent weeks.

Despite actually winning two of their last four games in league action, Dean Smith’s side will be looking over their shoulder as the season heads into its second half.

City will have Champions League qualification on their mind, although Pep Guardiola is unlikely to have completely given up on the title just yet.

The visitors have won four of their last five in the Premier League ahead of the trip to Villa Park, and they will need to keep that momentum going.

Despite Villa’s form not actually looking that bad, they are having issues, and City should have more than enough to exploit that and get all three points – with an away win priced at 0.2.

City have been far from watertight this season, with just one clean sheet in their last 17 games in all competitions, and Villa will fancy their chances through the likes of Jack Grealish and co. With that in mind, a BTTS bet comes in at 0.75.

Recommended Bets

Manchester City to win 2-1 at 8.0

Guardiola knows that all his side can do is keep winning games to safeguard their Champions League spot, and hopeful for a major slip from Liverpool in the coming weeks.

Sergio Aguero to score anytime at 0.45

Aguero returned from injury to score in the FA Cup win over Port Vale last weekend, and he remains City’s top scorer so far this season, with 14 goals in 20 games in all competitions in 2019-20.
