Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

Thursday 14 January
Emirates Stadium - Premier League
Arsenal are aiming to keep a good thing going this week, as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners host Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Thursday night. The Eagles are on a good run against their hosts this week at the moment though, so can Roy Hodgson’s side cause an upset on their short trip across London?
Palace are unbeaten in their last four games against Arsenal, with three of those ending in score draws. The Eagles beat the Gunners 3-2 at the Emirates in the other match during that run, although Palace only won one of the 15 meetings between the clubs prior to that four-game sequence, losing 11.
Gabriel Martinelli is expected to miss this game after going over on his ankle in the warm-up for Arsenal’s FA Cup victory over Newcastle United at the weekend. Thomas Partey should make his return to action though, while Brazilian centre-back Gabriel is touch-and-go.
Palace have a much more serious injury list at present, with at least six players expected to miss this game. That includes the likes of Jeffrey Schlupp, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Kelly, although Gary Cahill and Scott Dann could be okay to feature following similar thigh injuries.
Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace Preview and Predictions
Arsenal may have failed to beat Crystal Palace in either of the last two seasons, but the Gunners will fancy their chances of ending their poor run of form in this fixture on Thursday. The north London outfit have found their feet following a dreadful start to the season, and are aiming to climb into the top half of the Premier League table in midweek.
Indeed, Arsenal are only six points off the Champions League places at present, albeit having played at least a game more than most of the teams above them. Even so, Arteta’s side are beginning to produce the kind of football that Gunners fans have been used to seeing down the years.
More pertinently, Arsenal have been winning games. They are looking for their fifth successive victory in all competitions here, and their fourth straight win in the Premier League. Given they only won four of their first 14 league fixtures this season, that represents some turnaround in form.
The hosts are the 1.51 favourites to get another huge three points. Palace are priced at 6.50 to pick up only their second victory in eight games. The Eagles crashed out of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 defeat at Wolves on Friday night, their third loss in five in all competitions.
Given the form of both teams, a draw would be an excellent result for the visitors, and it’s available at 4.15 in the betting. A fourth score draw in five meetings between these clubs may look unlikely on the face of it, but it’s priced at 5.50 if you fancy a punt.
Arsenal to win to nil at 2.30
Palace have failed to score in three of their last five games, losing each of those fixtures. Arsenal, meanwhile, have kept three successive clean sheets and should pick up the win.
Arsenal to win 2-0 at 7.50
The Gunners have average 2.3 goals scored per game across those three wins to nil, while Palace have tightened up since their 7-0 demolition against Liverpool to concede an average of 1.75 per game in their four matches following that hammering.
