AC Milan vs. Sassuolo Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
25 November 2021
San Siro – Serie A
AC Milan will be looking to keep up the Serie A title pressure on their rivals this weekend as they welcome Sassuolo to San Siro. Stefano Pioli’s side have made a strong start to the 2021-22 Serie A season with just one defeat from 12 league games, and they are only trailing league leaders Napoli on goal difference. Both sides won 2-1 away from home against the other in Serie A action last season, with Sassuolo’s April win at San Siro putting a major dent in Milan’s title charge at the back end of 2020-21. However, that win was Sassuolo’s first victory over Milan in nine league meetings, as part of a run stretching all the way back to 2016.
Pioli has no fresh injury worries to deal with this weekend, but he is expected to make a few changes from Milan’s 4-3 defeat at Fiorentina last weekend. French star Olivier Giroud is set to be one of those starting alterations, with fellow veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimović potentially rotating out.
Sassuolo head coach Carlo Rossi also has an injury-free squad to pick from in Milan and he could stick with an unchanged starting team.
AC Milan vs. Sassuolo Preview and Predictions
Pioli’s side were left frustrated at the back end of 2020-21, as a mixed set of results saw city rivals Inter Milan power on and clinch their first Serie A title in over a decade. However, the Rossoneri have secured an edge on Simone Inzaghi’s side so far this season, despite hitting their first bump in the road this month with just one point from their last two league games.
Sassuolo have endured a mixed start to the campaign, as they aim to edge towards mid-table safety and away from a possible relegation battle. Rossi’s side picked up successive league wins for the first time this season just before the international break, but they are now without a win in their last three games in league action.
With Sassuolo struggling for form, the hosts should have enough in the tank to get back on the winning track at San Siro, with a Milan win priced at 1.58. If Giroud comes back into the side and Ibrahimović drops out, the onus will be on the former Arsenal man to fire, with four goals in five league starts so far in 2021-22.
AC Milan to win 2-0 at 9.25
Pioli will want to avoid their winless streak stretching on too much further in the coming weeks and a win in this game will avoid a gap opening up between themselves and Napoli.
Both teams not to score at 2.35
Milan have established an impressive defensive record in Serie A action this season with four clean sheets from 12 games, and a sub one goal a game conceded average prior to defeat at Fiorentina.
